This spoon is part of a cutlery setting with the impressed Arabic welcome greeting ( أهلاً وسهلاً). The material is very thin and stamped, the whole set was sold at a cheap price. Although Arabic writing can be found frequently on historic kitchenware, it is rather rare on contemporary items - apart from drinking vessels that have a close connection to baraka, divine blessing, that is believed to be transmitted to the liquid touching the words and verses.
