These three workers in front of the main building of the Istanbul University are evocative of monuments depicting strong men and women of the 1930s and those that could be found under socialist regimes, e.g. in the Soviet Union. The figure in the middle most probably represents the young Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who reorganised the university and opened its doors in 1933, the century this monument might date from as well.
